Hi! Firstly, I would like to say thank you for visiting. My names Gemma, and I am going to take this opportunity to fill you in on who I am, my journey so far, what I stand for, and how I am different to any other personal trainer you will meet!
My fitness journey began around 10 years ago when my son was born, I had never been overweight, but I was not particularly healthy, and I knew nothing about nutrition! Shortly after the birth of Alex I was diagnosed with Generalised anxiety disorder and OCD. I was a fairly young new Mum at 20 years old, and I quickly became isolated. My partner, although supportive worked long hours and I found myself alone for the majority of the time. It was then that I decided to join a gym, I didn't really know what I was doing, but I used the time there as a break from Mummy duties, and it had a huge impact on my mood straight away.
Since then, I have drifted in and out of fitness as and when my life has allowed it. It wasn't until the beginning of 2016 that I became very interested in health, fitness, nutrition, and mental health and how they are interlinked. I set out on a mission to learn as much as possible, and it was here that I decided to become a personal trainer, specialising in nutrition and mental health.
I love being outdoors, and when ever I have the opportunity you will find me out on long walks with my 4 dogs (you'll meet them lots over here on the blog), or out taking in the scenery on a run, fitness to me is about so much more than slaving away in the gym (although I do enjoy my fair share of that too) I believe there is no one size fits all approach, just that we should try and move our bodies in a way we enjoy as much as possible.
You will find me reading books, blogs, or listening to podcasts at every opportunity (I mean EVERY opportunity - in the bath, in the car, out walking my dogs) I am never satisfied that I know enough!
My own training fuels my ambition to help other people as much as possible. I believe that every one is capable of improving their lives by making small, incremental, achievable and sustainable changes. I despise the diet industry, and make it my mission to educate people on correct no-nonsense nutrition, moving their body, and giving their mind time to breathe.
I am no 'typical' personal trainer, I am not interested in taking your money and waving you off until your next session, but instead I am here every step of the way, at any time, no question is ever too simple and I am completely dedicated to providing every client with as much knowledge as possible, enabling them to take control of their own, and their families health and fitness.
And I think that's enough rambling from me for now! Please do have an explore of my site, I will be uploading recipes and blog posts weekly, a long with providing a whole array of free information on my instagram account.
